On Tuesday, 28 June, those who have the Brela tradition, quality architecture and the Makarska Riviera in their hearts gathered in Maestral. Žanamari Lalić, Jelena Veljača, Joško Čagalj – Jole, Marko Vargek and Arija Rizvić, Ida Prester, Iris Cekuš and Pedro Soltz, among others, enjoyed the atmosphere of a summer Mediterranean evening. The Croatian musical diva, Nina Badrić, put a special mark on the event with her performance. It was great to see so much enthusiasm, happiness and delightful conversations by the newly renovated pool.
Maestral, a canonical work of Croatian post-war modernism, a symbol of architecture of Brela and the Makarska Riviera and once the most luxurious hotel on the Adriatic, was built in the 1960s. The new owner recognized the exceptional value of the Maestral; with special respect, the design had begun, given its unique position in the history of hospitality and architecture, and with great interest from the professional public. Through the preservation of architecture and the interior, the spirit of Maestral has been retained, with the maximum increase in the comfort and safety of guests.
“Our investment is a tribute to the people, local economy, community, history, and the ever-radiant, breath-taking Adriatic Coast.” said Mubarak Al-Khalifa, the Chairman of the Management Board of Sunce Hoteli d.d.
In addition to Maestral, Hotels Elaphusa and Borak and the Holiday Village Bonaca in Bol on Brač, Hotel Soline in Brela and Kaštelet in Tučepi also entered the 2022 season in a new guise. In total, almost 800 rooms were renovated in less than six months. All the work was done by local companies that did an outstanding job, despite the great global challenges.
“As a hospitality group with over 60 hotels, we are proud to contribute the historic beauty of the Croatian coastline. This is a great match, enabling us to add to the historic class and luxury. We love what we do and strive to surprise our guests with comfort and luxury. We thank the authorities and our guests for their trust. Thanks to our amazing team as well; they did it.” said Mohamed Ali Rashed Alabbar, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Sunce Hoteli d.d.
