Schengen, or the Schengen area, includes 23 EU countries and four countries outside the EU, between which passengers and goods can move freely, without internal border controls. Schengen member states are: Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Estonia, Greece, Spain, Finland, France, Croatia, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Latvia, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Slovenia, Slovakia
If you enter Croatia from Hungary or Slovenia, you can cross the border without going through border control.
Airport controls will be lifted on 26 March 2023.
You must always have your passport or identity card with you, regardless of the fact that there is no border control.
They will enter Croatia under the same conditions as before. Citizens of EU member states at the borders with these countries, in principle, undergo minimal controls and have special lanes marked at border crossings.
You can enter Croatia, as well as all other Schengen countries, if you have a Schengen visa and you can stay here for a maximum of 90 days.
On the first day of 2023, the euro replaced the Croatian kuna as the official currency. In Croatia, it is no longer possible to pay in kuna.
